John Rice is a member of Spencer Stuart’s global Consumer and Supply Chain practices, working out of the Atlanta office. He specializes in recruiting CEOs, CEO succession, board, presidents, senior supply chain leaders, general managers and other senior leaders across multiple functions, including merchandising, operations and marketing in the consumer sector.
Hands-on consumer and management experience
- John previously served as a leader in the retail practice for another international executive search firm. He specialized in searches in the functional areas of merchandising, retail operations, marketing and supply chain.
- Before entering the search industry, John was vice president of merchandising for entertainment businesses at Best Buy, where he oversaw merchandising for the company’s $6 billion movie, music, gaming and e-reader business. He joined Best Buy as vice president for enterprise transformation, where he led the implementation of a Lean Six Sigma program. He later moved on to co-lead the demand planning team and lead the space management and strategy teams.
- John began his career in retail operations with Mobil Oil Corporation and served in a number of retail leadership roles. From there, he joined Accenture, where he was a partner in the retail practice, focusing on strategy and process re-engineering. Subsequently, John served as CEO of Garden Ridge, a big-box home décor retailer with sales of more than $500 million.
John received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and his M.B.A. from Nova Southeastern University.
