David Wick is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Washington D.C. office and leads the Education & Social Impact Practice in North America. He focuses on senior-level recruitment assignments, board placements, organizational culture and leadership assessments for a broad range of nonprofit and healthcare organizations, with specialized experience in philanthropy and impact investing, K-12 and higher education, education technology and fundraising. In addition, David partners with financial and private sector companies to support leadership placements within environment, social and corporate governance positions (ESG).
Expert in nonprofit, education, philanthropy and healthcare sectors
- David’s recent work includes helping leading philanthropic institutions, including large institutional foundations, community foundations and family foundations at various stages of their development to hire CEOs and presidents. He has also helped national K-12 organizations and higher-education institutions find leading executives across the education sector.
- A Washington, D.C., resident with deep ties to the public, private and philanthropic sectors, David supports leadership transitions within high-impact nonprofit and health organizations across the National Capital region.
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, David served as chief external impact officer at the KIPP Foundation, which supported KIPP, a nonprofit network of college-preparatory, public charter schools. He was responsible for helping extend KIPP’s impact beyond the walls of what is now more than 270 schools, and oversaw the KIPP’s external engagement and development efforts.
- Previous experience includes serving as managing director of capital giving at Harvard University, assistant director of development at the University of Chicago, and two years as a Pahara-Aspen Education Fellow.
David received his Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College, and a Master of Education, Administration, Planning and Social Policy, from Harvard University.
