Danny Koh leads Spencer Stuart’s business in Southeast Asia and the Digital & Technology Officer Practice across the Asia Pacific. He is also a member of the firm’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT), Industrial and Professional & IT Services practices. Danny has led assignments for CEO succession, culture transformation, top management development and searches for Asia CEO, country head and other C-level executive roles throughout various sectors within the industries and across Southeast Asia and Greater China. He also has extensive experience working with family businesses in Asia.
Extensive industry consulting experience
- Danny was a principal in the Beijing and Singapore offices of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and a core member of the firm’s technology, media and telecom, and industrial goods and organizations practices. He focused primarily on engagements in talent management, growth and go-to-market strategies, as well as operational improvement and turnaround.
- His experience includes enabling a global industrial conglomerate to meet its aggressive growth targets in Asia through a new talent strategy, conducting succession planning for a global energy player, and coaching the CEO of a mobile operator to navigate a turnaround situation. Danny was also a core leader of BCG’s family business initiative and co-authored the report, Defying the Odds: Building Family Businesses that Last.
- Based in San Francisco, Danny was a director of consulting services for CGI Group, a $4 billion IT and business process outsourcing firm, and was responsible for developing and commercializing CGI’s procurement business process outsourcing offering. Prior to CGI, Danny was with Silver Oak Solutions, an operations-focused consulting firm which he helped to grow from a startup to a profitable market leader, culminating in Silver Oak’s sale to CGI Group. Danny launched his career at the Mitchell Madison Group, a global management consulting firm.
Danny graduated with distinction and departmental honors from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in physics and electrical engineering and earned a Ph.D. in physics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He was raised in Hong Kong and Singapore and is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, and conversant in Bahasa Indonesia.
