Ben Machtiger is the chief marketing and communications officer for Spencer Stuart and has been a member of the firm’s management team since 2004. He simultaneously served as the firm’s chief strategy officer from 2013-2021 during a period of considerable firm evolution. Ben is responsible for leading and managing marketing and communications programs worldwide, including brand strategy, practice-level programs, thought leadership development, digital marketing, media relations, sponsorships, service offering positioning, and internal communications. He also oversees the firm’s client and candidate satisfaction program.
Building Brand Experience
- During his Spencer Stuart tenure, Ben has supported three CEOs and four chairs in helping the firm achieve substantial growth and dramatically expand its capabilities in leadership advisory services.
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart in 2004, Ben was managing partner of the New York office of Prophet, a global marketing and strategy consultancy serving leading multinationals. Ben previously served as chief marketing officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting.
- He spent 19 years with Young & Rubicam (within the WPP group) in multiple roles and business units, including leading global integrated marketing relationships for key strategic clients such as Accenture and AT&T. Within Y&R, Ben also served as chief operating officer of the B2B marketing agency Marsteller Advertising, a managing director of Burson-Marsteller, and as a managing director of PaineWebber/Y&R Ventures (an M&A consulting group).
Ben is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University, and also received an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
